Czapek's Antarctique's design elements are ever present on the handsome Mount Erebus model, featuring the signature lamé dial first introduced in the limited-edition Terre Adélie in May 2020. This exquisite dial, created in collaboration with long-time partner Metalem, is crafted using a unique comb to achieve a highly textured satin finish. Paired with the yellow gold 'Mount Erebus' case, the Deep Blue dial is produced with a sophisticated CVD (chemical vapor deposit) technique, offering a captivating blend of tradition and modern craftsmanship.
Located on Ross Island in Antarctica, Mount Erebus is the southernmost active volcano on Earth and among the few that are constantly active. Named after the HMS Erebus, an expedition ship that discovered Ross Island in 1841, the volcano also carries the name of a Greek deity born of Chaos, symbolizing darkness. Notably, this volcano's lava contains gold, which is emitted into the atmosphere at a rate of 80 grams per day, dissolved in volcanic gases and impossible to harvest. This extraordinary geological phenomenon inspires the new Antarctique timepiece.

Czapek's SXH5.01 automatic caliber marks a significant milestone as the brand's first entirely in-house movement. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail in collaboration with Switzerland's finest manufacturers and artisans, this caliber embodies the "We Collect Rare People" spirit. The off-center microrotor provides an unobstructed view of the intricate mechanism, highlighting its exceptional design. A free-sprung balance wheel with four gold adjustable weights ensures unparalleled precision tuning. The gear train is elegantly supported by seven skeletonized bridges, inspired by 19th-century pocket watches and the modern Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie chronograph's rotor. The movement features superlative finishing, combining haute horlogerie angling techniques with cutting-edge laser engravings.
